![]() ![]() ![]() Even after seeing the highly inspired end credits, the desire to return to Gotham comes to a close and the long night of the Dark Knight ends in style. Honestly, I probably would have been much more okay with it if they just hadn't tied it to the upgrades, and instead made the rewards be something like XP bonuses or something that made progression faster if you were skilled enough to do each of the different feats, but weren't required to get all of the unlocks. Overall Batman: Arkham Origins is, however, an overflowing title, but above all well organized. I was already like halfway through New Game Plus when I finally figured out that you had to do Dark Knight mode achievements in order to unlock certain gadgets and abilities. The upgrades systems, though, were straight-up garbage. I actually felt it was really interesting to see what the area that would become Arkham City looked like before it was walled off, and I liked the more diverse architecture and bigger buildings that they had in South Gotham. Mechanically, the combat and stealth felt a little off to me, but it was still pretty solid and was certainly not a bad game. I think the thing with Arkham Origins is that it was in the uncomfortable position of being the prequel to two games that were so (deservedly) beloved while at the same time being developed by a team that had never worked together on a major release before. ![]()
